I was thinking about getting an Octo-core processor, but then I decided not to, also nice GPU and monitor.
What was the total spending on this setup? Just curious.

No, if you're talking about the AMD Bulldozer FX-8120 or w/e, don't ever do it! They're terrible! It has been proven that games run better off of the new Ivy Bridge platform! And thanks, the GPU was huge bucks lol.

It was a total of 1600$, but it could have been cheaper if I ordered the part from different areas such as amazon. I got them all from newegg, and some parts weren't on sale.

I spent around $1200 for mine, around $1000 for the standard 8500, then another $200 (just about) for the new GPU and I had to get a new PSU as well.
I honestly don't need to upgrade, I can play all my games max settings. Just preparing for GTAV and for when I buy BF3 for the PC. :)

That is one epic machine. How well does it perform with games? Also instead of getting fancy mouse and keyboard.....Get another identical HDD and raid the two together. You'll get speed that rivals SSDs... more or less the equivalent of 15400rpm
drugs cost way too fucking much

Honestly, I bet he can do the same as me, just around 30-45 more frames.

Why would you bother getting 32GB of RAM? It's a complete overkill. Nothing at this point, Will even use that much. It obviously will register it and know that it's there, But it won't use the full amount. Currently you don't even need 16gb unless you're hardcore video editing. But even then, going beyond that point is completely pointless and a huge overkill.

  • Only because I will most likely be running very hard applications at simultaneous times, especially video editing / games / etc. Also, I will plan getting an SSD, so no need for another HDD in RAID.

  • For example for video rendering you can use excess RAM as a RAM-disk to considerably speed up the processing time.

I'm not good at explaining this but you can use excess ram as "temporary" hard drive and get insanely fast transfer speed.

The most important difference between a RAM disk and a hard disk is access speed. The time taken for a hard disk to move its magnetic heads over the spinning disks (much like the arm moving over old vinyl record player) is typically measured in milliseconds (thousandths of a second). Whereas a RAM disk does not have mechanical parts and its access speed is typically measured in nanoseconds (billionths of a second). Access to a RAM disk may be 50 times faster or more than to a hard drive.

Doesn’t matter what the press says.
Doesn’t matter what the politicians or the mobs say.
Doesn’t matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right.
This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences.
When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world

    No, you move.
